Turbet Martin, Dr.
Please give us a personal quote or a quote of a famous person (e.g. of Albert Einstein) that describes you and your life/work.
“A science is any discipline in which the fool of this generation can go beyond the point reached by the genius of the last generation”, Max Gluckman (anthropologist)
Please describe your job in only one sentence and tell us what the most important goal of this work is.
I develop and use a hierarchy of numerical climate models to study the atmospheres of terrestrial planets located both inside and outside the Solar System. The goal of this work is to explore new worlds, potentially similar to our own, and from that exploration, to get a unique perspective on our Earth.
How did you get into this research/work field?
While astrophysics fascinates me, I am concerned about the climate of the Earth. I became involved in research because I really want to make a positive contribution to these two scientific fields.
What would be the greatest discovery you would like to see in your life
I must admit that I am too ignorant to give the right answer to that personal question.
You work for the NCCR PlanetS. What do you think will the NCCR enable you to do you couldn’t do without it?
Collaborate with hundreds of scientists from very diverse backgrounds, and hopefully learn a lot from them.
