JUnior Researchers’ Assembly (JURA V)
We are delighted to announce the forthcoming 5th edition of the Junior Researchers Assembly (JURA V), scheduled for 7-9 October 2024.
The goal of JURA is to provide a unique opportunity for PhDs and PostDocs within the PlanetS framework to engage in networking activities, as well as to gain experience in presenting posters and talks in a relaxed environment, free from the presence of supervisors. This year’s edition will include:
- A scientific talk session aimed at allowing participants to present their research and develop their confidence and ability in delivering oral presentations, a crucial skill in academic research. Each presentation (10’) will be followed by a dedicated time for questions (2’) and discussions. The selection process will be anonymous and the talks will be organized into the following thematic groups:
-
- Instrumentation
- Small objects studies
- Exoplanet detection and characterization
- Exoplanet population
- Planet formation
- Surfaces, atmospheres and interiors
- Various
- A scientific poster session to allow the participants who do not wish to present a talk to share their work in a more informal and relaxed environment. This session will be preceded by a flash talks session, which will give participants a chance to briefly introduce their poster (2’ flash talk). The poster should be A1 sized.
- Two professional development workshops led by Prof. David Ehrenreich (University of Geneva) and Dr. Daniel Bower (ETH Zürich).
- Breakout sessions which will give the participants the opportunity to engage in discussions focused on specific key topics, using the cross-domain expertise among the junior researchers in PlanetS. These sessions will aim to identify new scientific questions, future science projects and foster new collaborations within the consortium. The expected outcomes of these sessions are proposals for new PlanetS Working Groups.
