JUnior Researchers’ Assembly (JURA III) 2022

Welcome to the third PlanetS JURA!

The JUnior Researchers Assembly (JURA) aims to bring together PhD students and postdocs working within the PlanetS framework. The conference is all-inclusive and has no registration fee; we thank PlanetS for their sponsorship of the JURA 2022.

The meeting will include science talks and posters, a professional development workshop (see below), time for informal networking, and a social activity.

We are able to accommodate talks from all participants who wish to give a talk; this is a friendly environment and we encourage you to present your work whatever your PhD/postdoc stage. Talks describing in-progress projects are very welcome! We also have the option of presenting a poster during the dedicated poster session.

Note that our total number of participants is limited, due to the level of funding awarded for the conference, and the capacity of the hotel.

Cancellation Policy: Please note that your registration to the JURA is binding. If you cannot attend or have any changes, please inform us at 3rdjura@gmail.com before 04.03.2022. For changes after this date, you will be liable for any costs incurred by your booking that cannot be recovered.

Register HERE by 21st January.

Contact us at 3rdjura@gmail.com with any questions.

Conference Block Schedule

Workshop

We are pleased to announce that Prof Matthew Kenworthy (Leiden Observatory) will host a professional development workshop as part of the conference.

Title: Unsolicited Advice: On setting up your astronomy home page

Abstract: One of the simplest ways you can present your research to other astronomers is by setting up a simple web page. I’ll go over the reasons why you should invest some time in putting up a web page, and suggest how to keep it maintained with minimal effort whilst still making it useful for other astronomers who want to get in contact with you.

Covid Policy

Our conference will be held in accordance with federal COVID policy; we will modify requirements as necessary based on the Covid situation in the Spring. More details will follow nearer the workshop, when we have a clearer picture of what the COVID regulations will be.

Under current regulations, we require all participants to demonstrate that they have either been fully vaccinated or have previously had COVID and recovered (this is sometimes referred to as the 2G rule). We also plan to make self-tests available, and ask all participants to take a COVID test in advance of the meeting and confirm a negative result (i.e., the 2G+ rule). Please be prepared for us to check COVID certificates, and be aware that the event will be cancelled if new federal restrictions are introduced that preclude the event from taking place.

Your registration is binding. If you have any changes, please inform us at 3rdjura@gmail.com before 04.03.2022; for changes after this date, you will be liable for any costs incurred by your booking that cannot be recovered.
