The Avatar of Michel Mayor ready to conquer the Galaxy
The avatar of Michel Mayor which will be implemented in the video game Eve Online is ready. CCP, the firm which had the idea to put real astronomical data in its game needed the image of a well known scientific to explain the gamers how they have to analyse these data. The data introduced in the game are light curves of stars recorded by the satelites Kepler and Corot. Looking for transits in these light curves, the gamer may discover an exo-planet still not seen by astromers.
If the avatar seems much more “hard” and “worrying” than the real Michel Mayor, it corresponds quite well to the spirit of the game where one has to conquer the galaxy making business, politics, alliances, and, of course, war.
