I work on the RACE-GO project: Direct/high-contrast imaging (or active coronagraphy) of exoplanets at the 4-m-telescope in the DAG observatory, Turkey using SLMs (liquid crystals) within the near-infrared PLACID instrument. | |
How did you get into this research/work field? | |
Reading astronomy books as a kid – but regarding my current research topics, I was inspired by the discoveries of the Kepler Space telescope, when a new exoplanet was found almost every week! | |
What would be the greatest discovery you would like to see in your life time? | |
The discovery of a habitable terrestrial planet or extraterrestrial life, ideally both! | |
You work for the NCCR PlanetS. What do you think will the NCCR enable you to do you couldn’t do without it? | |
PlanetS enables a close partnership within the planetary science community of Swiss universities, acting as a platform of cooperation on scientific projects as well as establishing a unique opportunity for young scientists like me to interact and exchange on a vast variety of topics within the field! |
