SUMMARY:JWST workshop
DESCRIPTION:The JWST workshop\, will take place at the University of Bern (main building)\, Hochschulstrasse 6\, cupola room (#501) on Tuesday (09:30-17:00).\nThe schedule is attached to this message. The lunch will be served at the Grosse Schanze restaurant\, a 2-min walk form the workshop venue. \nThere will be a hands-on session on PandExo\, the JWST exoplanet Exposure Time Calculator (ETC). Bastien Courcol will be leading this session in the form of a tutorial. For those interested in using this tool\, you are encouraged to install it *before* the meeting. Please follow the instructions here: https://natashabatalha.github.io/PandExo/installation.html \nIf you do not wish to install PandExo at this stage\, it will still be possible to use the online version of the tool on the day to do the tutorial. I hope this will be useful to everyone. \nAs a reminder\, the day will be split in three sessions: \n– Morning session: nine scientific talks will browse multiple topics that PlanetS members are working on. The goal of this session will be to mull over ideas and to specifically address on how JWST could help in investigating key questions in the field. \n– Afternoon session 1: technical talks on JWST and its instruments will be given remotely to present the facility\, its capabilities and the GTO programmes for all instruments. The hands-on session will allow everyone to learn on how to assess the feasibility of their observations. \n– Afternoon session 2 will aim to bring about concrete ideas from the two preceding sessions. The goal is to come up with proposal ideas that we could submit as an interdisciplinary team for the next JWST call (cycle 1). To achieve this goal\, we will have an hour-long discussion where inputs from all participants will be pivotal. \nFinally\, we still have room if you want to attend the meeting. Simply add your name to the list of registrants by Monday evening: https://unibe.doodle.com/poll/5zvceh7sf83magdf \nLooking forward to seeing all of you on Tuesday. \nBest wishes\,\nBrice-Olivier Demory \n[gview file=”http://nccr-planets.ch/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/jwst_workshop-1.pdf”]\n[gview file=”http://nccr-planets.ch/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/participants.pdf”]\n  \n[gview file=”http://nccr-planets.ch/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/ferruit.pdf”]\n[gview file=”http://nccr-planets.ch/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/lagage.pdf”]\n[gview file=”http://nccr-planets.ch/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/meyer.pdf”]\ncourcol_pandexo \nwasp12b_model \n \n
